Does the EveryTrail app support multitasking?

The new version does! (Free is live, and Pro is pending). If you have upgraded to OS 4.0 and the app is working for you, then you have an app that will run in the background. You can test this by closing the app, and you should see an indicator next to the battery indicator to let you know that GPS is being used. You may want to test this out once before going on a long, amazing trip, because it would be a shame if the app were not running the whole time. Please be aware that running multiple apps in the background, especially using internet or GPS will drain the battery more quickly

I have the free app, but I want more!

So you have the free app but want to hide the ads, sync more trips, download maps for offline usage and record video? Then you should become a Pro user! I want to use a separate digital camera and combine it with the track I record from my iPhone.

No problem! Record the trip as usual with your iPhone and snap pictures with your digital camera. When you are home, upload the trip to EveryTrail, then login to the website from your computer and find the trip in you’re My Trips list. Go to edit pictures, and select the method you would like to use (upload from computer, or import from Flickr/Picasa). Once you upload/import the photos, you will be asked to geotag them.

If this is you first time geotagging your photos, you may have to specify the time offset between your camera and the iphone GPS (which is GMT). You can enter the time on the right, if you know it, or you can click “map it” for one picture and place it on the map where you took it, then click the pin and select “update other pictures”, which will place the other pictures and save the offset for later use.

The next time you repeat this process, we will use the offset you specified last time, and they will be geotagged automatically (unless you change your camera time, that is).
