Franconia Ridge - Mt. Lincoln & Lafayette
Franconia Ridge - Mt. Lincoln & Lafayette
Franconia, New Hampshire, United States

Difficile: 8.5 miles, Una Giornata
A fantastic strenuous ridge-hike with great views all around

This is a very popular full day hike for good reasons. On a clear day, you are unlikely to find better views in New England. Combine this with strenuous and nerve-wrecking hiking on the 'knife-edge' between Mts. Little Haystack, Lincoln and Lafayette and you have the recipe for a great day out. As a bonus you will ascend three 4000 footers, including...
Franconia Ridge - Lafayette, Lincoln, Liberty and Flume
Franconia Ridge - Lafayette, Lincoln, Liberty and Flume
Lincoln, New Hampshire, United States

Difficile: 15.3 miles, Una Giornata
In this complete Franconia Ridge loop climb you'll grab all four 4,000 foot peaks in the area.

On this unbelievable ridge climb you will pass by an AMC hut on the way up then follow a narrow ridge over to Lincoln from Lafayette and then continue on to Liberty and Flume before returning back to the same trailhead. You will climb up the Bridal Path trail to the AMC hut and along the ridge and return via the Falling Waters Trail. Bring your camera...

North Kinsman, South Kinsman and Cannon
New Hampshire, United States
Difficile: 12.6 miles, Una Giornata
This loop hike by Lonesome Lake and Kinsman Pond will have you following a ridge for both Kinsman Peaks and Cannon.

This loop will bring you past Lonsesome Lake in an old glacial cirque, past Kinsman Pond to the Kinsman Peaks which are the highest in the range (South 4,358', North 4,293'). You will then double back and head over the "Cannonballs" towards 4,077' Cannon Mountain which has a ski area on its northern face. You'll find a viewing platform at the top...

We ascended by the Falling Waters Trail, crossed the ridge, and descended by the Greenleaf/Old Bridle Path trails.Recent trip reports had us a little skittish in regards to snow, but it appears a lot of melting has occurred since the May 13 report.  The snow was very patchy and easily traversed with bare boots. The weather was perfect today--warm, sunny, and a gentle breeze. Visibility on the ridge trail was just about perfect--Mount...

Peter and I hope to move to the White Mountains someday if we are lucky enough and so this opportunity to plan a short hiking getaway was so looked forward too for a long time.If our stay in the Whites was going to be short then the hiking was going to be exceptional and this hike didn't disappoint.  This hike was advertised as perhaps one of the most popular in the Whites...

We arrived at the trailhead to a "brisk" -3 degree start. Conditions were favorable, as we had blue skies and minimal wind. This was my first winter hike, and unfortunately, I was ill prepared. My normal backpacking gear did not cut it! I like to drink lots of water when I hike, so my spirits were damped when 20 minutes in, my camelback tube froze! Ugh. No worries - had another supply...

Hiking | 8.3 miles
Our journey up to Mt. Lafayette (5,250 ft.) via Little Haystack and Mt. Lincoln. This trail is on the strenuous side and not for first-timers and children, but you will hit 3 of the 4 nearby peaks exceed 4K feet. Starting on the Falling Waters trail gives you the immediate gratification of beautiful waterfalls on the way up to Little Haystack.

Today I knocked off two more New Hampshire 4,000 Footers. I hiked the Fallen Waters Trail to the summit of Little Haystack Mountain, then crossed over on the Franconia Ridge Trail to Mount Lincoln and Mount Lafayette and descended by the Greenleaf Trail and the Old Bridal Path.It was a cloudy day, no views. The trails were in excellent condition. I stopped in at the Greenleaf Hut and had a bowl of soup."You formed the mountains by your power and armed yourself...

Hiking | 4.2 miles
Early morning (4:30am) start in Boston, we were on the trail by 8am. Foggy and limited visibility on the way up, but coming down after noon the clouds opened up and we got some beautiful views of the Franconia Ridge. There was more snow that we expected judging by the surrounding area, so we got some nice snow shoeing in, though the traction probably wasn't necessary. Trail was a bit icy at parts,...

This was the second time I did this hike but the first time was so long ago I didn't remember much of the trails. Of couse the hike from the hut up Mt Lafayette was memorable :) We almost didn't get to do the ridge due to weather conditions. Fortunately the weather broke as we were heading out of the hut. Despite the 70 mph wind gust, it was a beautiful hike....
